(k, I would'nt)
Don't get me wrong. I'm not an AMD hater, I still remember K6-3 (Sharptooth), Athlon XP (Barton) and Athlon 64 (Clawhammer and Venice) - all of them was perfect CPUs from AMD.
Last 10 years I used...
Better memory controller?
Compare single core performance of FX and Phenom II at same speeds, FX still looses to Phenom II in all except memory bound tests.
Check out review on THG:...
Anyway, FX cpus not as good as Phenom II was. Just imagine the performance that could have 32nm 8-core Phenom with FX's memory controller?
AMD made a bad decision switching to bulldozer architecture, now they are deep in the ass. Bulldozer/Vishera/Steamroller all of them loosing to Core I* in multi-core performance. Also seems like...
Does anybody knows, will there be support for geometry shaders on Sandy Bridge?
Does it fixes stuttering in TF2 and L4D2?
Can You, please, do same tests with AMD FX-8350 Piledriver CPU? This is very interesting, how clang compiled binaries performs on AMD CPUs compared to GCC compiled ones.
On AMD site I see only 13.11 beta available to download.
I'd recommend this:
AMD A8-6500 (3,5GHz, 65W)
ASUS A88XM-A (Micro-ATX, FM2+, with Kaveri support)
2 x 4GB DDR3-1866 or faster (I use Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 but with low timings, 8-8-8-24)
Why not use 12.04 LTS or Mint 13 with backports ?
test PCs with Win7*
Seems like AMD waiting for next stable driver release and then also release a legacy driver.
I tried 13.9-legacy on my test PCs win Win7, it does not changes anything, still same bugs as with 13.1-legacy.
Yesterday I bought XFX R9 290, and tried both drivers (this one and previous), there is no noticeable difference in Sam3. Also, OpenGL driver build number is same in both drivers.
FPS increase in Sam3 and no stuttering in TF2, isn't it enough?
P.S. Previous Catalyst beta has OpenGL driver build number: 4.3.12458, this one: 4.3.12614.
Confirm this. This driver version resolved performance issues and input lag in TF2 for my Radeon HD 6930. Also i got nice FPS increase in Serious Sam 3.
I'll surely get an ASUS Radeon R9 290 when it...
I have same issue as with 13.8 beta's, graphics and desktop corruption when playing Dota 2.
This bug/incompatiblity i had only with 3.8 kernel, sleep/restore works perfectly with 3.2 and 3.5 (did'nt tried with 3.11).
Yup, techpowerup is'nt a Linux professionals, they mostly doing hardware benchmarks on M$ platforms.
My first linux distros was Red Hat 5 and Corel Linux in late 90s.
