I had the same problem – running Ubuntu Hardy on the same hardware. I solved it by adding the “virtual” workaround which was needed for 8-2 to get OpenGL working.

    Try adding

What ATI-Card are you using? I tried running WoW in Ubuntu 7.10 using Wine 0.9.57 and cat8-3 on my FireGL V5250 and was experiencing lockups as soon as I moved my character.

I went back to 8-2 and...

Does 7.11 give any REAL advantages over 8.42.3? I went back to 8.42.3 on my T60p since I already had a FireGl-hack for it. But if 7.11 fixes the SLUB/suspend problem, I might try it. Suspend/resume...

    I've gone back to a hacked 8.42.3 since I didn't spend $3k on a 14.1" 4:3 sxga+ notebook to have to look at blurry 1024x768.

    All I wanted from 7.12 was FireGL-support and suspend/resume...

    It's not only widescreen. 1400x1050 (my laptop's - T60p - native res) isn't supported either and I'm stuck with 1024x768. AMD/ATI can't possibly be serious.

Don't know if anyone actually cares but 8.42.3 (with FireGL hack) is running fine on my Thinkpad T60p (FireGL V5250).

Only thing that's annoying is the missing suspend/resume but I can live with...

It may be wishful thinking, but it could be possible that the devs (I can't imagine there is only one developer working on fglrx) are working on something bigger like adding “real” FireGL support...

I can't see any memleaking on my system either. I ran glxgears for like 8 hours and the memory usage didn't change at all.

    I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 with kernel 2.6.22.
