  1. Qt Creator Rocks

OK, not as good as MSVS, but close, and constantly getting better. It has been the first IDE to ween me away from Emacs. I just wished it supported html editing cause once in a while a C++ person...

    and for servers as well

I even use it for server apps. It is easy to talk to a mysql database with Qt, and the QTcpSocketServer class is very to use as well as Qt's multithreading framework (QThread)
  3. Sigh - another wanna be desktop

Gnome, Unity, XFCE, KDE, Razor, (ten others). Does the world need yet another 95% completed Desktop. Yes to a degree they are all bad, but can't they try to pick one and work with them. I mean...

    There is some value there

I've always thought the OpenCL route was the best way to go for those wanting to do computations on the GPU, but after follwing the link provided by Phoronix and a few more clicks...

Show the embedded worls some love

Dear LXDE. I think it is a wise decision to move to Qt, as it really is a ell thouguth out and well documented Application Framework. I am a big fan of KDE, but worry that it is moving away from...

Looked trhough the bugs but none caught my eye of a theming engine bug that prevents me from using emacs. Imagine not being able to use Emacs on Linux

  9. Vivia SailFish

I am more excited by Sailfish then anything Ubuntu does. Not sure what SailFish plans to use (maybe somebody can chime in as to what they are doing) for their display. It would be in Canonicals...

    Death to Sematic Desktops

I love KDE, but the first thing I do when I install a new distrubtion is to disable anything remotely connected to the semantic desktop. For me they just get in the way

My next Ubuntu 12.4 is Open Suse 12.1

I happend to have been a Kubuntu user for a long time, but since Kubuntu is going away after 12.4 I decided to switch to OpenSuse 12.1. Other then a little bit of a learning curve with the rpm...
  13. Go KDE

The biggest problem with KDE on any tablet is that it looks terrible. And its behavior is no better. No design just a giant hack. KDE looks ok on a desktop because the desktop paradigm that it...
  14. Got the name wrong

Another name for the HeadsUp Display could be PopupDialog Display.
  15. Qt 5.0 not eminent

Qt 5.0 is just now going under a feature freeze. When (k)ubuntu 12.04 comes out you'll be lucky to see Qt 5.0 in alpha. I think an LTS ought to wait another year till Qt 5.0 and Wayland are both...

  17. Age of enlightenment

I'd love to see OpenCL extensions added to Qt, the defacto open source C++ cross platform framework. Efforts focused on one project like QT can populate into thousands of other projects and products...

How about a similiar poll for KDE

If you haven't done it yet can you do a poll of KDE4. My guess is that the emotional reply from frustrated and ignored KDE users would make Gnome feel pretty good about the negative responses found...

The changelog only has about 20 bugs fixed

Why is there a release with only about 20 bug fixes. Maybe there are more bugs fixed then reported. I Hope so, as it seems a overkill to have a release with so ffew bug fixes. I love KDE, but like...

Sorry but you don't git it. You seem to think the tablet is a replacement for the laptop/netbook - its not. The real reason people buy tablets is that they find them very useful in places that...
