echo "raise latency_timer for EHCI USB2.0"
# raise priority of others:

setpci -v -s 00:1d.0 latency_timer=80 # EHCI USB2.0
<-- of course modify...
it mitigates things but, of course, doesn't fix a problem, that isn't caused by or inherent to the cpu scheduling part
"disk io (especially usb interrupt based) makes the system unresponsive"
<3 this game
in case it segfaults/crashes for you
make sure you don't have glibc 2.18 and/or upgrade to 2.19
do you get all the games running in Fullscreen if yes - how ? very often the games always start in window mode (e.g. UT3) and unless clicked on them
they stay there or are in...
dude - you're a machine
too bad that there's no sound on those videos (is there ?)
I miss NFS Hot Pursuit - didn't know it was available on Steam, too
disabled zswap and it still happened (hyperz disabled, vblank_mode=0 set - is this known to cause issues ?)
the only "advanced" game besides UT3 I tried was Serious Sam 3 BFE and that also leads...
thanks for your comments so far
important mesa stuff is compiled with hardened gcc 4.7.3*, mesa can only be compiled without custom cflags (so mostly the offending flags should be...
so it seems it got fixed or things changed in my system that fixed it
3.13-rc8+ works fine, 3.12.8, too
nice testing - thanks :D
dpm is definitely more stable =)
but these issue's I'm experiencing are already on forced radeon.dpm=1
you're using Kanotix, right ?
what gcc version is everything compiled with ?
might be that the hardened toolchain & the -march=native optimization breaks stuff
the thing is:
well, unless gcc 4.8 doesn't stop producing broken code or the gpu driver keeps on crashing (r600g, on an 5850)
I'm unable to play Metro: Last Light, Serious Sam 3, ME2, ME3 or other games :(
sweet ! :D
at least rebooting seems to work = no white screen of death with pure 3.12.2 (drm-next reverted)
so it's a regression introduced with 3.13-rc* kernels
will see if shutting down & other stuff...
stupid no-edit timeout
the same also happens during restart - the screen turns white, keyboard turns off (no magic sysrq key)
anyone experiences the same issue:
3.12.2 / 3.12 + drm-next + radeon.dpm=1
3.13-rc* + radeon.dpm=1
afaik there already was a Opensource / OpenOrigin under development by one of the developers of Origin
but development unfortunately ceased (?)
anyways: I'm waiting for Origin to work on Linux...
they do seem to have tests (xfstest ?!) but that doesn't seem to cover the wide range of zfs tests (?), yet
anyways, there's another one on the highly critical side:
btrfs makes great progress & it survived 1-2 hardcrashes for me (where in the past I would get data corruption or lost files), that even on /home
at least after the following (and...
