    @Kano. Again, thanks for your fast reply. So I take it that most MoBo's work just fine w/ standard Windows 7 (I hate Win8's UI from what I've seen of it) and Linux/Ubuntu dual boot w/ Grub (2)?

    Sorry, I meant Asrock of course. But I take it from your reply above that Asus and Asrock MoBo's do not work (properly) with Linux anymore if they have UEFI?

    UEFI and Linux

    UEFI is the successor of BIOS. At least, that all I understand of it... Dunno what 'secure boot' is. But there is disturbing news about UEFI. Samsung laptops can be bricked by Linux because of UEFI...

    Yes. When I use KMS then there is no prob. w/ vsync ands GL. However, I cannot use some features that are very important to me. They are:

    tv_vertical_position
    tv_horizontal_position

    Yep. That's what I mean. I've got the 2.6.32-24-generic kernel from the regular Ubuntu repositories now and my PC shuts off about 3 times each time I can successfully turn it on. In my case: I think...

    Jippee. :) Since you are the driver developer: when do you think that will be included/ported? And will I have to update my kernel, the redeon driver or dri, mesa etc.?

    1. I use an R300 Ati card. I was under the impression that that one's driver (= radeon) is quite different from the R600 one (= radeonhd). But maybe your tips do work on mine.

    Thank you for your reply. :) But when I use xrandr to see if "underscan" is a property which I can set with "--set" it is not. See output of xrandr --prop w/ KMS enabled:

    $ xrandr --prop

    Nope. Seems there are some more quirks to this. Now I can't overscan anymore. The picture does not cover the whole TV screen anymore. That is: without KMS the output of the command "xrandr --prop"...

    P.S. If drivers or kernel, irq's, vsynch or what ever, ever gets broken again (update??) then I'm gonna kill my computer! :D

    Finally seem to have cracked it. But oh boy did this take a whole lotta testing, cashes and forum hopping! Ever since I bought this GraCa (way, way back in 2003) I never got the darn thing to work...

    Thanks for the info. :) And if you do not use kms? Because if I use kms then TV out (on my PAL TV) has that very severe "combing" effect. That's completely gone when I disable kms (in grub).

    Wow. I'm awfully sorry, but things are sort of spinning round my head now. ;)

    All I want is for my computer to work w/ my good 'ol Ati Radeon 9600 (RV350) and GL video. I guess I'll never...

    I don't know a whole lot about the driver history of graphic cards in Linux. So it appears that I use the Mesa driver. I believe that the open source drivers in the past were called 'Mesa'. Does that...

    I'd like to continue the discussion about the open Ati driver and GL/vsync support here. Previously is was discussed in the 'Closed Drivers' section (link), but it does not belong there. My top...
