  1. Lost theirminds...

The "bad things" for GNOME they pointed out was their focus on the traditional desktop

Obviously they aren't paying attention or just have lost their way. The move to gnome 3 to be less focused...

    Yes, but...

What about XvBA, that can't seem to do profile 5.1? Or do they think that OpenCL ffmpeg work will naturally obviate the utility of XvBA? If that worked (and better yet, if it could be used to...

*IF* this happened and Wayland protocol could go over TCP, this could be very good for remote desktop. " it would need to support proper disconnecting of Wayland clients," I would *love* for a...

    Two problems..

-Hibernate still doesn't work on my T60p Gutsy.
-More of a question, I hope. I can't figure out how to sync to vblank on xv with mplayer. Diagonal tearing is certainly not there, but more typical...

    Tried it out...

And I'm having issues (I know, what do I expect when checking out from development tree, but then again, I've been having to cope with the monthly fglrx driver, which hasn't been that much better ;)...

I'm a developer/packager supporting Fedora, RHEL, SuSE, and Ubuntu. I'm all too aware packaging can be a nightmare, and the systems don't make it easy to make one package to rule them all, but your...

    Just great...

Oh great, exactly what I want, the Windows style of installing software to gain mindshare in Linux.

One of the major gripes I have with Windows is software install/deinstall is so haphazard with...

    Thankfully..

    It doesn't squash the screen:
    ~$ xrandr
    Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1400 x 1050, maximum 1408 x 1050
    default connected 1400x1050+0+0 0mm x 0mm

Still not there for my T60p...

Under Gutsy, still cannot Suspend if the fglrx kernel module is loaded. The 3D corruption makes it impossible to use for the whole point of running it. I wish there were some official option to...

    What about the RAID funcionality?

I'm interested in potentially dual booting a setup, and I can't find details about dmraid and the SB600 SATA controller. In pure linux configurations I never bother with that headache, opting for...

    Poll: More bugs..

They'll fix a few minor issues, and introduce a max resolution of 800x600, but it will be ok, because they'll state it as a 'known issue', which makes everything ok.

    But seriously, in context of...
  12. Another bizarre symptom..

So far, to sum my experience on a Lenovo T60p:
-1400x1050 doesn't work (as has been noted, but 1400x1050 isn't widescreen, so calling it a widescreen bug is a misnomer)
    -Suspend doesn't work...
  13. 7.12 fails to suspend for me still under Gutsy. ...

7.12 fails to suspend for me still under Gutsy. 7.11 suspended, but would not resume. 7.12 wll not make it even that far, for me (T60p). Note, 7.11 I had to do the PCI ID hack for my mobility...
  14. Additionally...

CPU utilization for 'normal' usage is through the roof in this release all of a sudden.

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
    6163 root 25 0 ...
  15. Not Just widescreen...

The good thing is they added the Mobility FireGL support, so my T60p 'works' out of the box.

The bad, my 1400x1050 screen is now stuck at 1280x1024. Further bad, it won't sleep. Beyond that,...

    Resolutions..

So far, their release notes indicate the annoying ---\___ tearing pattern is going to persist, that's not good.

For some reason, on upgrade, I'm having trouble getting compiz to work with AIGLX...

    Working resume...

I'm hoping for resume to be fixed for the driver and Ubuntu gutsy. 8.42 fixed suspend for me, good first step, but useless without resume working.

Output from kernel after resume trying to do X stuff

When I successfully slept and resumed (avoiding the chvt back to X, of course) I tried to killall -9 Xorg, restart Xorg, that failed, so I tried to rmmod fglrx, and the kernel refused to deal. Here...
