2.99.907 is not good with GM45 SNA. 2.99.906 was fine apart from the occasional single corrupted character (bug 55500).

With 3.11, it seems that the nice level of processes is largely ignored, and turning off /proc/sys/kernel/sched_autogroup_enabled no longer fixes it.

I think a trivial patch is sufficient to enable h264 with the g45-h264 branch:

    GM45 forever unsupported

The good news is the g45-h264 branch has been updated. The bad news no changes have been made to actually enable h264 on g45. vainfo just reports VAProfileMPEG2Simple and VAProfileMPEG2Main.

People who compile things themselves care about how long it takes. If I want to create a patch and rebuild something, it's a lot more convenient if it only takes 15 minutes rather than 2 and a half...

This strikes me as at best, a waste of effort, and at worst, a bad idea.

For Fedora 18 it appears to consist of only libva-intel-driver, which is in rpmfusion anyway, although of course neither is...

    Taking credit or blame?

If Mark Shuttleworth's claims are true, that just means Unity is to blame for GNOME shell, and also Ubuntu is to blame for the system of churning out releases every 6 months.

I've had no particular problems with Fedora 18, but then I haven't used Anaconda since I got this laptop in 2009, and deal with a distribution upgrade the same way as with any other bunch of package...
