AMD support is retarded aswell.
I've sent a report full of Xorg logs and detailed information about my system somewhere in November to emailcustomercare.amd.com, this was their answer:
If you haven't noticed Michael, Steam gained 10 million users in last 3 months, so no wonder survey looks like this. Also 1.5% in January translates into over 1,100,000 Linux gamers.
No man, since you are a moderator, you should explain yourself in public. Fuck cheaters.
I wonder if there is a way to install it on 3.13 kernel. 13.12 which shipps with Ubuntu 14.04 supports 3.13. Is it in hands of AMD or Ubuntu community?
I don't play most of those games, doesn't make my point any less valid.
Anyway, after a month of talking with people at various forums, reddit and most important, exchanging emails with AMD...
It behaves great when it comes to irrelevant software.
It behaves like shit when it comes to games most people actually play.
In other words what you're saying here makes as much sense as those...
No they don't, there is that thing called optimization, you know? Often drivers have to be optimizied for specific app to work properly. Testing an app which only Phoronix is using or a Quake Engine...
Or maybe stop benchmarking irrelevant for Linux gaming apps and games, but focus on things that matter - games I've mentioned earlier. For maybe 20 irrelevant tests we get 1 that makes sense, kinda...
Would be nice to see those drivers and GPUs tested with real games (those actually played by most players) like Dota 2, TF2, CS:S, L4D2 and other more demanding games like Serious Sam 3 or Metro Last...
Yea I did tried open source drivers with 3.13 kernel under Ubuntu 14.04 - my framerate tripled, from 5 fps to 15 :)
It seems that AMD Catalyst 13.12 doesn't work with kernel 3.13 in Ubuntu 14.04, at least for me (Unity doesn't load, though LDM does).
Anyone experiencing such problem?
Awesome, thank you! :)
Easy, Phoronix is a tabloid for tech savvy Linux users, which means that it works on same rules as tabloids and other bullshit media. What you see in his post here is "fueling hatred" for Ubuntu,...
Oh, I should've paid more attention to this. Anyway I've managed to patch and install those drivers, thanks! :)
P.S. No performance change in Dota 2 or ANY other Linux game.
I propably shouldn't, but thanks :)
Getting an error though:

And what am I suppose to do with this?
Same DKMS issue in Ubuntu 13.10.
Looks like sooner or later there will be no need for Catalyst, awesome :)
