We seriously don't need/want these weekly updates.

I'd rather have more Wayland coverage.

Reminder: The Mir hate train was kickstarted by the "wayland sucks" document they pretty much attached to their announcement. That was a technical argument that wayland sucked and mir was better, and...

    Indeed. But ultimately, screw HEVC.

We'll survive on vp9, which supposedly isn't bad at all, until Daala obsoletes them both.

Games and applications will use SDL, Qt, GTK and so on as they always have.

Wayland has first class support upstream on SDL, Qt, GTK. Mir doesn't and probably won't.

You'd think otherwise by the name, but x264 people aren't involved in this in any form.

Somebody just tried to get attention by naming his encoder after x264.

Here's Wayland development. Tell me just how you came to the conclusion you exposed, as what I see is the exact opposite. There was no effect whatsoever....

  13. Allwinner support

For some reason, the recently added Allwinner support is being ignored:

There's a major flaw with that list. The man-hour myth. Quickly and High Quality is not possible. It doesn't matter how much money is thrown at it. Mir is going to show us that.
  15. Neat

I wouldn't mind one of those, assuming it wasn't insanely overpriced.

Those Allwinner A20 based boards are just too good value for the money.
  16. Cost matters

Good for you. For the rest of us, price matters and these chips are cheap, nice and used in tons of cheap tablets and boards such as the cubieboard or marsboard, which btw are excellent value/money...

Even if Allwinner isn't doing things right on their end, a good deal of support for their SoCs has been written by third parties and is already in the Linux kernel, with even more ongoing:...

That would break many benchmarks. Notice that test files are often full of zeroes, yielding unrealistic benefits. Real world data isn't anything like that.
  19. like Android

They're distancing more and more from being a normal Linux distribution.

Like Android, they're becoming a special case.

And it's a good thing. Perhaps then it'll stop being referred to as a...

The most popular two distributions that are doing continuous updates reasonably well are Arch and Gentoo.

The former is relatively low-maintainance and easy to use, to the point I recommend it to...
