For the most part it does, but there are not many users using non-x86 platforms so they rarely get tested. Also older hw doesn't get tested very often either. E.g., the radeon 9200 is like 12 years...
Best bet is to bisect.
There is no support for crossfire in the open source driver at the moment. If someone wanted to work on it, there is no special hardware required. It's just lots of work in mesa to split up...
There are rarely any display connectors wired to the dGPU on PX laptops. The dGPU is purely for offscreen rendering. See this page for an overview of how to configure these sorts of laptops:...
If you use a passive adapter, it's actually TMDS (HDMI) signalling, not DP.
You are probably using the shader based vdpau implementation rather than UVD (fallback if UVD is not available). Check your kernel log and make sure UVD initialized correctly.
It's a grey fox. We have a number of them in my neighborhood. They keep the rabbit and squirrel population (somewhat) down.
git bisect and find out what commit caused it.
The glamor code in the xserver accelerates far more than standalone glamor or exa do.
The modesetting driver in the xserver uses the same acceleration (glamor) that the radeon driver uses and will also support pageflipping once those patches land.
You still need a display controller and a digital encoder to drive each display. MST just allows you to support multiple streams on a single wire.
The limit is still 6 displays. DP MST just allows you to drive multiple displays from a single connector.
They have been upstream for a while in the xserver. It's not clear whether the modesetting driver in this case was using acceleration or not.
And yes, for a lot of X rendering operations, sw is...
Try booting with radeon.bapm=0 on the kernel command line in grub and see if that helps performance. I've had some reports of bapm causing GPU performance issues on some kaveris.
User Mode Driver. Basically the usermode acceleration drivers for OpenGL, OpenCL, multi-media, etc.
Deucher is Swiss and my family has always pronounced it "Doi-ker".
The smu fan control is not working reliably yet. Once it does, I'll enable it by default.
It depends on the OEM. Laptops usually only have a single system fan controlled by a microcontroller on the motherboard rather than a GPU specific fan that utilizes the controller on the GPU. The...
The clk increases are tiggered by GPU load. There is a debugfs entry for monitoring them and there are sysfs entries for forcing the performance level within a power state. See this blog post:...
