Phoronix: Phoronix Test Suite 2.4 "Lenvik" Enters Beta

As the inaugural Phoronix Test Suite release for 2010, we have just released the first beta of the upcoming Phoronix Test Suite 2.4 "Lenvik" milestone. Phoronix Test Suite 2.4 is set to deliver initial Windows support, support for Palm webOS and other mobile devices, new test profiles, image quality comparison support, and many other new features that are detailed in this article.Phoronix Test Suite 2.4 Beta 1 specifically delivers on GTK2 GUI improvements, test installation enhancements, initial support for Debian's GNU/kFreeBSD (read: we have benchmarks coming soon at Phoronix.com comparing the conventional Debian GNU/Linux to Debian GNU/kFreeBSD using Squeeze packages), Phodevi improvements for Microsoft Windows, and Phodevi hardware/software detection improvements for Ubuntu 10.04 and other newer Linux distributions...

Request for the next release :

Can you please add an option so the user can change the scaling of the axis for the generated graphics.

Especially the power usage graphics look very unprofessional with the automated scaling.

For example the graphic from the Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 2 Benchmark would look much better if the scaling of y-axis would be from 0mW to 30000mW in steps of 5000mW.

Or you could add an routine to the PHP-code so the axis-scaling would always choose rounded numbers. In the benchmark graphic the highest number is 28414mW, so 30000mW would be a better choice than 31970.

Valid point, thanks, just never really thought about those steppings much.... Anyways, I just committed new code for 2.4.0b2 (and effective immediately for all new Phoronix articles) that should be much smarter about auto-selecting the stepping values.
