Phoronix: AMD's Catalyst Legacy Linux Driver Updated To 13.1

While AMD has went months without updating their Catalyst "Legacy" Linux graphics driver for the Radeon HD 2000 through Radeon HD 4000 series graphics cards to support new X.Org Server / kernel releases and other bug-fixes, they decided today to finally put out an updated legacy driver! This updated AMD Catalyst Linux Legacy driver is tagged as version 13.1...

    Really?

The download page says Linux 3.4 and X.Org 1.12.

It also says 12.6 driver, so not sure what the real status is.

fglrx_drv.so contains references to functions from amd_xserver14_* to amd_xserver112_*

Doesn't look that good concerning xserver 1.13 support.

If someone can confirm whether it has Xorg 1.13 support(test it .. :/), it'd be good.

It also says 12.6, only says 13.1 in the download link

tried it in kubuntu 12.10 (kernel 3.5.0-22 , Xorg 1.13)

              Result:

              [ 52.581] (II) LoadModule: "fglrx"
              [ 52.581] (II) Loading /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so
              [ 55.035] (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so: undefined symbol: noXFree86DRIExtension
              [ 55.035] (II) UnloadModule: "fglrx"
              [ 55.035] (II) Unloading fglrx
[ 55.035] (EE) Failed to load module "fglrx" (loader failed, 7)

Exactly the same error that with 12.6 ... where's the difference ...

Error when running with xorg-server 1.13:

                Code:
                [ 16.416] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so
                [ 16.857] (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so: undefined symbol: noXFree86DRIExtension
So it doesn't look like it'll work with anything greater than 1.12.

AFAIK the main focus of this release was getting Steam fixes out to owners of older hardware.
