Has anyone tried using screencasting programs (ie recordmydesktop or xvidcap, etc) with the open source radeon driver?
For the love of me, I cant get them to record at anything more than 2 fps!
Xorg process easily takes up 100% cpu once they run. (hell, gtk-recordmydesktop will take 70% cpu even before you hit the record button, wtf is up with that!)
Amd 64/3200 with 1 gig ram, ati X800 video card. (32 bit Ubuntu 7.04 installed)
On a pos P3-800 with a much older *nvidia* card, both xvidpcap and recordmydesktop can easily capture 15 fps.
Is there something in the radeon driver that aint jiving with these programs?
