I updated a bunch of packages today (Fedora 8) and OUCH! I can't get a display on my Sapphire X1650Pro card with either the radeon or radeonhd driver. What hit me?
Current packages:
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.3.0.0-40.fc8
xorg-x11-xinit-1.0.7-2.fc8
xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.7.197-1.fc8 (from updates-testing)
xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.1.0-0.5.20080203git.fc8
I know the monitor is OK because the screen lights up during the boot sequence, and it's working now on a GeForce 7600GS with the nouveau driver.
Before these updates, I was running pretty happily with the radeon driver, 6.7.196-something. I have the xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log saved from attempts with both the radeon and radeonhd drivers.
On the bright side, it appears nouveau now has some Xvideo support, I'll have to play with that.
