Hi! I have long been an user of Archlinux, and always tried to keep my system as fast as possible. A few years ago I met the LFS (Linux From Scratch) distribution, which is a manually build-from-source distro, but being a desktop user, i preferred to keep things simple.
I wonder, are there any noticeable performance gains compared with a lightweight distro such as Archlinux or Gentoo? Has anybody ran a full set of benchmarks to compare? Is it worth going through the whole compilation-installation process?
