weston-desktop-shell without pointer

I'm running the latest git snapshot of wayland & weston, but when I launch weston-launch, the weston-desktop-shell loads, but I have no mouse pointer. I can still click on things and i get hover activations, etc (in fact i rely on the hover changes to figure out where my cursor is) where do I have to define what cursor image to use?
