  • Sound quality of the VT1708B HD on a VIA VB8003 Mini-ITX board

    Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows what the sound quality would be like on a "VT1708B 8 Channel HD Codec" on a VIA VB8003 Mini-ITX Mainboard.

I'm considering buying this board, but it doesn't have a PCI slot where I can plug in the safe bet, which is my old Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card that sounds better than most on-board audio I've seen.

Does anyone have an idea of what it may sound like, and if it might compare to a good dedicated sound card like the SBLive 5.1?

Also, how is the Linux support for this on-board audio?

    Thanks,

    - Neil
