Phoronix: Radeon R600/RadeonSI Gallium3D Git Code Delivers Performance Improvements

It's been several weeks since last publishing any Mesa/LLVM Git benchmarks with AMD Radeon graphics cards so for this weekend article are some fresh OpenGL graphics performance tests when running with Mesa 10.6-devel Git and LLVM 3.7 SVN atop the stable Linux 3.19 kernel.

Nice, I wonder if Cayman got (finally) some TLC or it's just generic optimizations.

      AMD A10-7850K:
I cannot feel worse performance than with catalyst (surely you can measure a few framse) but i see less problems like better
wine performance, no graphic glitches in sanctum 2, no cloud flickering in X-Plane and more smaller or gamebreaking issues.
The only thing that does not work are Metro Redux due to OGL 4...
Overall i can recommand radeonsi over catalyst for similar systems from user's perspective.

Nice improvements. I hope once OGL 4.x compliance arrives, Heaven with tessellation will be included in the benchmarks as well.

L4D2 is on Linux unplayable and on Windows it runs with playable.

Hmm these are pretty impressive results. Weird that the 290 was acting weird though - I hope that gets fixed before the driver is officially released.

If this was using OpenGL then it's would likely crash on startup or freeze in-game as AMD dropped updates for legacy drivers and end of 2012 (latest update marked as September 2013, but there wasn't any changes since April 2013).

For <=4XXX state with open source drivers on Linux is much better than on Windows.

This ancient card is nothing even near a A10-7850K. And i recommended it for similar systems.
I assume nobody will improve performance for that old cards anymore.

Why should i use OpenGL if its runs with d3d very well.

Thats a lie. And i speak from the FOSS driver on Linux compared to the same Application on Windows.
