I'm looking for an example of a working xorg.conf file for using fglrx 8.41.7 and an R600 card in Gutsy. I don't find that aticonfig outputs a working config file.
I followed the instructions at http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubu...allation_Guide which involve compiling a Gutsy package from the AMD download and then installing, inserting the module with module-assistant, etc.
I know the driver module is installed because I have seen it boot successfully with fglrx once after I cannibalised the xorg.conf from a previous install. Then it hung after a couple of minutes and reverted to a (very) low graphics configuration.
Here's my xorg.conf before I run aticonfig and after. It's configured for vesa drivers before, obviously, because there is no open source driver for R600. I notice that neither have the "modules" or "DRI" or "Files" sections that I am used to seeing in my older xorg.conf files. Also there are two "Device" sections after aticonfig runs with different values for the driver; this seems very odd to me.
Is it that aticonfig is only written to upgrade from "ati" to "fglrx" drivers and can't deal with the fact I'm starting with "vesa"?
