  • Linux Driver Issues

    I've a HD4350 card and am running Ubuntu-Lucid.
I downloaded the latest driver and configured it on Linux, manually(by generating a .deb file and then aticonfig).
There is just one hitch: the desktop keeps returning to the login screen after blanking out all of a sudden. I tried running games like Open Arena. They work fine. The blanking out happens within the login screen too.
    How do I fix this?

It seems that you have installed the binary closed source driver "fglrx". Moderators should move this to binary driver section.

I suggest that you uninstall the driver you manually installed and use ubuntus own closed source driver installation utility. If you can upgrade to Maverick because it will bring you some improvements for graphics.

Could you tell me how to install the driver through the above mentioned method? I'm new to installing drivers on linux!
And, by upgrade to Maverick from Lucid you mean, change? I think Lucid's the latest.

Your distribution has included a program Jockey https://launchpad.net/jockey which should automatically install correct drivers for you and make the necessary changes. You should find it under the name "Restricted Drivers" in System -menu.
