Sure, you could install kdrive on Debian back then. As well as Xgl. And tinyx is used by, well, tiny distributions.

Why is Inkscape not productive software? What do you define as productive software? It would seem to me that you don't even know what being productive...

They are all at gtk3 for some time now.
You can even build libreoffice with gtk4 UI.
Inkscape is now on gtk4.

Riscv is supported without host tools. That's probably your problem, but is plenty enough for the kernel. Don't mix apples and oranges.
