Where is your proof that it was an "employee hacked up job"?

That's what the definition of the term official means, that the actual source responsible has made a statement, and there is no statement so you cannot use that word. If Michael received such a statement, then it's only official for him unless he shares that statement. Putting files up on an FTP server or where ever they are is not official support, and them even saying they have no plans for supporting Linux right now is an official statement against them supporting Linux. So, it's official, Valve has said they have no plans to support Linux! That's all that is official right now.

Maybe so, but it's not official yet. What you did was untruthful reporting, and if you keep it up you'll see your web traffic wane, at least for those wanting factual, reliable, truthful news. I'm sure traffic is up though just because of the circus this created.

P.S. Where ever money flows you can usually expect the truth to be bent, if even just a little, so I never did 100% trust Phoronix for reviews and news but still visit for the nuggets of truth which actually do exist.

P.P.S. Official Of*fi"cial, a. [L. officialis: cf. F. officiel. See Office, and cf. Official, n.] 1. Of or pertaining to an office or public trust; as, official duties, or routine. [1913 Webster]

Obviously. If you check the previous page, it was an attempt to use his own logic against him.

                • I love this thread, it's a funny read :-)

Yes things haven't been progressing as hoped, but if I were you I wouldn't doubt the linux client to be released in the upcoming months.

                  • I personally "trust no one" and won't believe in a (proper) linux steam client until one is officially released.

The article says that the client won't be released until the end of summer, so maybe some people could just start waiting and seeing.
