Phoronix: VirtualBox 4.3 Beta 2 Brings In Fixes, Small Changes

The second beta release of the Oracle's VM VirtualBox 4.3 software is now available. So far VirtualBox 4.3 isn't proving to be too incredibly interesting...

I haven't invesitaged the issue personally, but I have read in multiple sources that these days the most interesting development around VirtualBox occurs inside the proprietary version. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

There is no proprietary version anymore, AFAIK.

It's just boring seeing how Michael is against a true GPL great virtualization software. I just hate this.

The VirtualBox itself has no more the "OSE" version, but stuff like GPU acceleration, PXE boot support etc. are still included in extensions under a proprietary license.

Only place I'd consider VB anymore is on Windows for some sandboxing and toying around. Otherwise I'd go with KVM.

Because qemu-kvm is the fuckin' bomb, yo!

            https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...n/QemuEmulator

Why it's as easy to use as:

            Code:
            qemu-img create ubuntu-test 3G
            dd of=ubuntu-test bs=1024 seek=4194304 count=0
            qemu -hda ubuntu-test -cdrom ubuntu-6.10-desktop-i386.iso -m 192 -boot d
            qemu -hda ubuntu-test -cdrom ubuntu-6.10-desktop-i386.iso -m 192
What's not to love about manly CLI bullshit, yo?! It put's hair on your sack.

Only that there is no 3D support. Don't get me wrong, I prefer qemu also, but if 3D is needed it is simply not an option (yet).
