    So long, 2.4! We barely knew ye.

    I wonder how many old, cruddy routers, cable modems, university computer labs, and back-office servers out there are still running Linux 2.4. I've seen it running on a production system as recently as 2009, but I never stuck around at that place long enough to see if it got upgraded in the time since.

      Probably quite a few as people are lazy, and as the code still "works" for certain values of work.

        I still use kernel 2.7 because 3 still doesn't boot on my system and I'm too lazy to figure out how to fix it. :\
