That's almost as bad as the time Debian lost half its devs to Sphinux.

The trolling even extended to the AUR repo on Arch. There "were" some childish people in the Manjaro dev community, and I for one am glad they are gone. I enjoy using Manjaro (even though I'm primarily an Arch user).

Manjaro is by far the best distro I have ever used, I hope it gets stronger. Devs leaving is not necessarily something that shouldn't happen.

            Is one simply troll

            Source: https://mailman.archlinux.org/piperm...ly/029069.html

            Hello AUR General,

I am a Manjaro team member and have been an Arch user for ~5 years. I
still run Arch proper on many systems and test my AUR packages on Arch
proper (just thought i'd get that out of the way ;-p )

We've had to remove someone from our team recently due to their
abusing of their forum account's moderation privileges and some other
stuff. This person has gone on to prove just how right we were to get
rid of them by launching malicious attacks on our wiki and attempts on
some other web services. (There's no doubt it's the same person, he
directly threatened us with malicious action.)

It appears now he is attacking Manjaro team members with any avenue he can find.

            This account here:
            https://aur.archlinux.org/account/kingrobbo
Has been made for no reason but to troll (myself and possibly other
            Manjaro devs with AUR accounts).

It flagged all of my AUR packages out-of-date (of which none are) and
sent a delete request for one (aqualung). The name "kingrobbo" tells
me with 100% certainty that it's the same now-troll we've been dealing
with, if any AUR admins want more information on this and why i know
it's the same person please feel free to email me privately.

For now i haven't set all my packages to not-out-of-date, so the AUR
admins get a chance to see what i mean.

I cannot apologise enough for our problems spilling onto AUR,
obviously this is the last thing we want.

Of course how to respond is up to you, but my hope is, obviously, that
            you'll delete their AUR account.

            Regards and apologies,
            Rob McCathie
As you read the troll is abussing from AUR too, and look like is Directly to Manjaro users with any medium for they pruppose, they account was suspended in AUR, but look like him/he created other.

So is one person trying to boicot Manjaro using any medium

                Updates / Related info:

The Arch Linux forum thread referenced in the article now clearly shows the posts were made by a troll impersonating us:
                https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=183991

Some insight can be gained from my post to the AUR general mailing list:
                https://mailman.archlinux.org/piperm...ly/029069.html

Phil has made a statement here:
                https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=14971.0
                With some further comment here:
                https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?...6856#msg136856

                @Michael:
I appeal to you to simply delete the article (not this forum thread), it literally only exists as result of misinformation from an outright troll.

A handful of people left, one of them has gone on to attempt to 'troll' us by any avenue he can (including malicious attacks on web servers, impersonation of us on other website/services, and much more), of which this Phoronix article is assisting him with. The Manjaro team still stands at at least 15+ people.

Of those who left, only one was a "core" team member, the rest were forum moderators and one was an edition maintainer.

In future Michael if you have any questions about Manjaro please feel free to contact me.

                  Regards,

                  Michael,
I've been a follower of phoronix for the last 3+ years. I've seen you increasing the pace of new articles produced. I'm a workaholic too. But I've had to reduce my daily worktime to 10 hours or less, because it had a serious impact on the quality of my work.

The quality of your articles has decreased significantly. You may have gotten away with being "duped" this time. Please stop your "10 articles a day" mantra. I don't want to see you making a complete fool out of yourself.

Again: I prefer one single well researched article a day over 10 shallow fifteen-liners.

                  regards Willi ...

You mean this wasn't already happening?

Phoronix is and always has been a Linux tabloid.

Every article is graced with Michael's shit-eating grin that screams "how can I manipulate the FLOSS community today?".
