    Alpha 5 brings 2.6.31rc8 not rc5.

Edit: Well I can't install it.
GRUB2 doesn't find anything after a fresh installation on my test-notebook. It goes straight into rescue mode.

    And thats really stupid:

    grub rescue> help
    Unknown command 'help'
    Try 'help' for usage
    grub rescue>
    Yeah, help my ass.

Boot problems here to but i fix this on bios/hardware side

now i make a full chance from mixed IDE/sata to only sata and now i only use the sata ports of the nforcepro3600 ,i deactivated the sil-sata controller on my mainboard, and i only use the first 128gb to boot.

Grub2 can not find the extra sil-sata controller and there boot options in the bios.

Grub in general can not handle mix of IDE and sata.

my main-board has a bios bug only boot up to 128gb.

Linux general has big problems on non standard configurations.

my mainboard is an Asus nforce 3600 KFN32-D SLI

My Notebook has just a single SATA Drive and my my root partition has just a size of 25 GB. Maybe it's this new Kubuntu installer. I'll try the alternate install cd next.

            Edit: Fail again.
Ok, If they insist I'll install 9.04 and update to 9.10. I hate grub2.

You could try the daily cds images, maybe it is fixed.

KK Alpha 5 sucks, imho. I cannot get it to properly run on a Thinkpad T41. I get a disk failure warning and soon after the boot, a crash that locks everything up so that I have to restart the machine. What do they say nowadays in net lingo?: epic fail?!?!?
