    Single window mode is pretty useful for anyone using tiling WMs.
    Question: Wasn't GIMP looking towards GEGL and high bit depths already with 2.8?

        The current git version supports bit depths greater than 8 bit per channel. This will eventually become 2.10.

        As for the export vs save change. The way things were you had to memorise which formats would save which features. I quite like the new workflow when doing textures or involved graphics as I want to work with an in progress format and an output format simultaneously. Doing light edits is a bit of a pain though - over all I think it's an improvement but I can see why some people complain.
