This work is inspired by Apple's Time Machine back-ups under Mac OS X.

Even the DejaDup page refers to Time Machine as the "competition".

Or just go to their backup "design" page and look at what the screenshots show under "Relevant Art".... http://live.gnome.org/Design/SystemSettings/Backup

I believe this could be very neat in combination with btrfs rollbacks.

An easy to use backup tool as part of the DE would be great. But a little less Mac OS X inspiration and a little more originality in the design wouldn't hurt IMHO.

Well, I guess it's better than KDE ripping-of the Windows 7 UI

I so glad I ditched Gnome.

Sorry for trolling, but what a bunch of crap these new features are.
Gnome devs just live in the clouds and don't understand at all the word "usable".
                And they love the Mac.

I think GNOME 3 as a platform is quite interesting. Good thing Ubuntu sees it as such and did not go forward with the mess that is GNOME Shell.
