  • I Bought Microsoft Vista

I just ordered a copy of Microsoft Vista (RC1) !

I haven't seen anyone get Vista running with KVM or kqemu, so I figured that would be interesting to see if it works.

Some other articles could come out of this as well.

RC1 is $5 at NewEgg. I am not going to support Microsoft more than I have to .

Though a computer shop has already sponsored an Ultimate copy for Phoronix if we choose to accept.

Vista = bleh...shame on you! Although I do understand you're going to need it eventually to compare benchmarks, so you're forgiven...

All he's done is contaminate a VM or a hard disk with a particularly nasty boot-sector virus. Vista's just...heh...it's NOT what people are making it out to be. Well, unless they're panning it that is.

I don't think the sponsors would necessarily appreciate the sentiment.

BSOD on loading of Windows installer.... At first it complained having no APCI (when I passed the -no-apci argument), so then I enabled it and then everything got all blue.

Haha, it seems M$ is still their old self, trying to piss people off with BSOD's. However, I've heard there's an even worse, much more evil RSOD floating around...if I was a piece of hardware, I'd rather be destroyed than having to endure such a horrible Red Screen Of Death.

Geez! What computer are you installing this on? A Dual Octal-Core with 72GB of DDR3?

http://www.michaellarabel.com/index.php?k=blog&i=68 With the new virt-manager changes for Fedora 7 I am going to try out Vista this week with that. Perhaps another article.

I still think you're contaminating machines, real or virtual, with a particularly nasty variant of a boot-sector virus. What did the poor machine do to you to deserve such short shrift?

Do virtual machines change boot sectors?
