Phoronix: EXT3 Driver Might Not End Up Getting Removed From Linux 4.3

While yesterday it looked like the EXT3 driver would be removed in Linux 4.3 as the pull request was sent in and there were no objections brought up last month when it was proposed, Linus Torvalds has taken issue with removing the driver...

Sounds reasonable. Why should actual functionality and compatibility be broken?

According to this functionality and compatibility wouldn't be broken.

I understand Linus' reasoning, however, I don't think it applies. Anybody who is still stuck using an EXT3 system probably isn't even past the Linux 3.0 kernel.

There was no mention of it on the ArchWiki, so if anyone knows; does Arch Linux use this Ext3 driver for Ext3 partitions, or does it use the Ext4 driver like SUSE and RHEL?

See. If it wasn't for Linus, nobody would be asking questions about the Kernel. They would simply be adding and removing things at will. Leading to one f'uped Kernel.

Why not simply ask in user forums? Crowd sourced intelligence ftw

This is LKML. They have never heard of these "forums" you speak of.
