    Phoronix: Talking About Kernel Mode-Setting

There was a talk last week at LinuxTag in Berlin by Egbert Eich about kernel mode-setting and the DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) graphics stack on Linux. Egbert is, of course, a long-time X developer and openSUSE developer at Novell who was one of the masterminds behind the RadeonHD graphics driver and has worked on various pieces of X over the years. In Egbert's brief KMS talk he briefly covered the history of the Linux graphics stack, the user and kernel-space APIs for DRM mode-setting, and related topics. For those that missed out on his talk, below are his slides.

Michael, why did you save the presentation in JPEG? It begs to be saved in PNG.

Please, convert the original photos to PNG.

Yeah, and I would like to know how Novell likes that it is placed so while it at least do not hide the copyright notice it hides their logo pretty well.

Now if Intel could only fix their DRM/KMS to actually work with 855/945 chipsets (first one is borken with 0.11 with at least vx, compiz and some more, the seconds does not work with S-Video/TV since they set the wrong clock).

LOL, this site still uses Flash video. I doubt Michael cares about JPEG vs. PNG.

The whole presentation as a PDF would be a lot better than JPEG or PNG, but a lot worse for ad revenue.
