    It's pretty weird to choose this demo as example of compute shaders usage because same can be done with "fake physics" and won't look any worse, e.g this HTML/JavaScript/canvas demo.

        I would assume, that it has been the most simple example they could come up with, to demonstrate compute shaders usage, no need to get fancy.
