Mobility HD2400 + ubuntu 10.10

  • Mobility HD2400 + ubuntu 10.10

    Hey guys,
    I have a Radeon Mobility HD 2400 on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat. I want to install radeonhd because Ive tired to get lots of errors on fglrx driver.

    How do I proceed to install radeonhd driver in my ubuntu 10.10 distro?

    I've been uninstalled fglrx

    Don't install radeonHD, install the radeon driver instead. The RadeonHD driver has been abandoned.

    With that distro, you probably only need to install the xf86-video-ati package for X, the latest Mesa and libdrm, delete xorg.conf, and it should simply work.

      I only need to "sudo apt-get install libdrm mesa xf86-video-ati"??

        Uninstall or remove the fglrx-driver and you have radeon driver, because it is installed with the core system.
        Radeonhd-driver is dead and should not be used.

        If you did the right thing and installed fglrx-driver through package managements the removal should be easy. Else if you installed the driver by downloading it from some internet site, google for removal instructions.

        Short explanation: If after successfully uninstalling the fglrx-driver you get graphical UI and desktop effects than you have the OSS driver running there for you.
        Try running glxinfo and paste the output somewhere. Direct rendering should be "Yes".

          Ive been instaleed it!

          Well,
          but Im with a bizarre video tearing and bad vsync in simple operations like move windows. How I can eliminate this video tearing and performs vsync?
          Im using compiz effects, but the tearing and bad vsync do not disappear. Can you help me with it?
