    Chad Versace of Intel has published a set of nineteen patches to the Mesa mailing list that implement HiZ and depth resolve support for the Intel Linux graphics driver. Unfortunately, it's not without some regressions...

        HiZ usually gives a nice boost (up to 30% in R300g)

          No, GM45 has no hardware support for HiZ. Ironlake (the successor) was the first to introduce it, but in a way that's not very useful; right now we're only targeting Sandybridge and Ivybridge.

            HiZ is fairly effective at avoiding doing unnecessary work, and often gives a noticeable speedup.

            Which Intel IGPs support this?

              And what about h264 VA-API decoding? Do you know if there is someone still working on it?

                As far as I know, yes...though I can't say for sure as I'm not involved with media.
