I am looking to update from my Nvidia 8800gt this month, and the GTX280 and HD4870x2 are the ones I'm looking at. I'm pretty happy with the linux support from Nvidia, however my laptop seems to be doing ok with it's built in ATI card for awhile now. Does anyone here have any information on the degree of support for the HD4870x2 ? From what I understand, it will just work like a single HD4870 due to the lack of crossfire support in the Catalyst drivers. I do dual boot sometimes into Windows where I could use it, but I play several games in linux that can use it (Savage 1,2 , quake 4, ut*, etc) so it would be in my interest to invest in a card that will work well in both OSes. I'm not a fanboy of either, I just want what will work the best in Linux within the next few months.
No announcement yet.
