  • Asrock Q1900B-ITX

    Arrived today - a new motherboard with Intel Bay Trail-D J1900 CPU. Quad core, and on this board it supports up to 16 GB of RAM (which is much better than 8 for running few virtual machines in Virtualbox ). ToDo now is to build it and then to launch a lot of phoronix benchmarks, measure power usage (the CPU is 10W TDP) and so on

    no AES

    Bay Trail-D does not support AES-NI, which is a must-have for speeding up SSL/HTTPS based apps (most of internet apps).

      Yes, they do appear heavily cut when compared toother intels. I'll check how it actually works. Xubuntu booted quickly. Everything fanless and low on power.

        First quick comparison http://openbenchmarking.org/result/1...PL-1404206PL73 - it did fail in OpenSSL benchmark vs E350

        I wonder what it did with PHP Now doing comparison vs the AMD Semprons, next vs the Intel Haswell benchamarks presented not so long ago and then some custom (RAM speed, and such). OpenArena is playing now and the computer is using 37W of power (without display).

          Very interesting riklaunim !

          According to Intel website the J1900 does support AES-NI, maybe there is some detection issue?

          I'm very interested in the stability of the Asrock board and amount of power used...

            No it does not support aes-ni , all non-E and non-Z series chips (eg, J1750, J1800, J1850, J1900, J2850... do not have AES-NI) ;D.

            And there are truecrypt benchmarks on the net which show difference, for example Athlon 5350 (which have aes-ni) vs J1900 (lack of aes-ni), so Athlon is more then 4 times faster there :

            The AMD Athlon 5350 supports AES-NI, the Celeron J1900 does not. It results in a performance difference of more than a factor of 4.

              The title is correct as it's a comparison. J1900 is the third system in that test.

                Pretty interesting results, the only reason I got a Athlon 5350 + AM1B-ITX instead of Baytrails is because Intel seems to slow on the gallium side. (And I'm a fool for fancy shiny pebbles)

                I don't think I've seen anyone mention if the J1900 supports H264/VP8+ hardware decode however? Intel's specs certainly seem ambiguous on the specifics, including the graphics core itself.

                  It runs like it has H264/VP8+ and AES-NI . in games "great" too... pretty unbelievable results to me .
