  • is nvidia planning an ati takeover?

there are rumors spreading around that nvidia might consider taking over ati/amd. some sites recently picked up that topic and it's getting pretty loud.

i really don't like what's being written down there. if that would happen that would result in

    - no more specs from ati
    - skyhigh prices for nvidia cards
    - no real reason for innovation on graphics market

do you think nvidia is really planning to do this?

"do you think nvidia is really planning to do this?"

I haven't had the time to read much news in a few days, but I would loudly shout that it's not happening.

The chances for this happening are *really* small due to one simple reason:

The result would be a monopoly for stand alone graphics cards.

The american feds tend to not allow takeovers when the result is a monopoly, so it is really unlikely that this will happen.

        I really doubt it.

A couple of months ago it was IBM that was buying them out.

A bit later it was Samsung looking to buy them out.

Nvidia buying ATI/AMD out is just more FUD started by "The Inquirer" which has a reliability rating lower then Windows Me install with Bonzai Buddy running on it.
