  • Linux Catalyst 7.12 (fglrx), corrupt 3d output

    Hello,

    I installed the new linux catalyst 7.12 driver for my built-in ATI FireGl T2-128 (IBM T41p). I'm using Debian testing distribution and didn't have problems with fglrx 8.40.4 (the versions between 8.40.4 and 8.443.1 [Catalyst 7.12] didn't work with the FireGl).

    Since the new driver officially supports my graphics card, I tried the new driver.

    2D output works without any problems but 3D output is corrupt:


    Does anyone have hints to avoid this problem?

    not enough information is provided, can you please post a copy of your xorg.conf file to see if that lists something, oh and don't forget the xorg.0.log file also ( grepped for fglrx, ogl, opengl, etc )

      I tried the new driver with the following additions to the Device-section without success, too:

      Since I went back to version 8.40.4 (the new driver was unusable without 3d output), the Xorg.0.log was overwritten by the old driver. I'm going to switch to the new driver again to post the Xorg.0.log...

            I don't know if this will fix the issue, but here's a modified version of your xorg which might fix the issues, with details taken from the gentoo wiki over how to use fglrx drivers.

                Set Anti-Aliasing

                Hi

                for me it helped to set some anti-aliasing in the Catalyst Control Center.
                Funny thing if it wasn't that sad...

                  This workaround works for me, too! Thank you very much!
                  Setting antialiasing to 2x and the 3d corruption was gone. Though reducing the frames per second :-(.

                  The AMD/ATI support didn't want to help me because I'm using a mobility version of the FireGl T2-128! Next graphics card will be a NVidia.

                    Hi,
                    I have same problem with my IBM T42P and FireGL Mobility T2, but I'm not able to set some anti-aliasing value in the Catalyst Control Center, because it's grayed (unactive).
                    I tryed to set Option "FSAAEnable" in xorg.conf, but nothing was change (I found "(WW) fglrx(0): Option "FSAAEnable" is not used" message in log). Do you know, how I can solve it? Thanks

                      Linux007, what is your screen resolution ?

                      The reason I'm asking is that there is a known 3d corruption issue (possibly first discovered here) in the later drivers with FireGL products and H resolutions which are not a multiple of 64 pixels. The temporary workaround is to use a Virtual line to make the frame buffer a multiple of 64 pixels while keeping your current screen size.

                      Lipti, you already have a "virtual" line in your conf file -- if you just take the H resolution from 1400 to 1408 that might be enough.
