As the name implies I'm new to this forum but I have been visiting quite often. It sure is a great forum!
Since we're waiting for news on the Razer AC-1 linux compatibility, I thought I would ask you for some advice on sound cards.
I'm in the process of buying a new sound equipment for my rig. I will use it mainly for playing Quake 3 and 4, but of course also for playing music and movies. I will soon buy the Razer HP-1 headset and I also want to buy a new card. I'm currently using an Audigy 1 card.
Hopefully the Razer AC-1 works on linux and then I will buy it ASAP. Other cards I have considered are the M-audio Revolution 7.1 and the Auzentech X-meridian 7.1. In the worst case scenario I will buy Xfi of some kind.
It all comes down to how well it works on linux. I realize that it will be hard to know how well the AC-1 will perform but what about the other three cards? Will it be possible to use openal, 7.1 output and so on?
